The EPA California Branch keeps track of "impaired" water bodies and their pollutants for the purpose of preventing future impairment, and cleaning existing impaired water bodies.

Underground Gas Pipeline Leaks: Cypress City Oil Pipeline Leaks - October 28, 2015

An underground oil pipeline under Cerritos Avenue in Cypress leaked oil upwards, through a road surface crack.  The street was closed Thursday night, due to the potential of explosive gas might be accumulated under the asphalt.  Backhoes rapidly removed the street's asphalt layer, for dozens of feet, following the oil trail under the asphalt. attempting to locate the pipe crack.
